Ayar Uchu

Ayar Uchu es uno de los protagonistas de la leyenda de los cuatro hermanos Ayar, aparece en el mundo andino por la cueva central del cerro Tampu T´tocco en Pacaric Tampu. El significado de ají (Uchu) atribuido a su nombre le desmerece.

Tuvo un final dramático que lo perenniza, se convierte en una huaca pétrea que trasciende todo el incanato, fue objeto de culto desde la época de Manco Cápac hasta después de la conquista. En el lugar donde se convirtió en piedra celebraban el ritual del Huarachico a solicitud de Ayar Uchu. Estamos ante una de las principales huacas incaicas cuyo significado del nombre quedó en el olvido.

1. Ayar Uchu: reseña mítica

Después de salir de la cueva de origen, los cuatro hermanos Ayar fueron caminando con dirección al norte (septentrión), en el camino Ayar Cachi queda encerrado en la cueva Cápac T´tocco debido a su conducta agresiva (ver post aquí). En tanto los hermanos dejan atrás su recuerdo y avanzan a su destino, cuando Ayar Manco observa a lo lejos una huaca que obstruía el camino. Ayar Uchu se ofreció adelantarse para retirarla.

Cuando llegó, se sentó encima y le preguntó qué hacía en dicho lugar, la huaca volvió la cabeza tratando de ver de qué se trataba, pero como el peso la oprimía no lo pudo hacer. A la vez, Ayar Uchu quiso pararse, pero sus pies quedaron pegados al suelo y, de forma gradual, fue convirtiéndose en una estatua de piedra.

Cuando llega Ayar Manco, lo encuentra transformándose en piedra, aunque aún podía hablar. Ayar Uchu le dijo que se quedaba así, como un ídolo petrificado y solicita como retribución por su buena voluntad que le rindan veneración en todas sus fiestas y honores al momento de celebrar la ceremonia de Huarachico o fiesta de armar caballeros. También, requiere ser el primero en recibir las ofrendas y la adoración como padre en el lugar donde se quedaba. Ayar Manco acepta la petición y Ayar Uchu queda petrificado. Y fue así como se transformó en una huaca, de modo que, en su memoria y recuerdo, bautizaron el sitio como Ayar Uchu Huanacauri (respecto al significado de Huanacauri, ver aquí).

La ceremonia del Huarachico tuvo vigencia permanente desde el tiempo de Ayar Manco hasta después del arribo español. Los sacrificios y ofrendas, según refiere Cristóbal de Molina el Cusqueño, se destinaban primero a la huaca del cerro Huanacauri, cumpliendo de esta manera, lo acordado con el hermano.

2. Significado del nombre Ayar Uchu

El nombre Ayar Uchu normalmente ha sido traducido como ají, que es carente de contenido mítico o contexto incaico, por tanto, deviene en una traducción forzada y lejana del pensamiento incaico.

Cerrón-Palomino, R. (2013) (2016) comenta que el nombre de Ayar Uchu es escrito por Juan de Betanzos como Ayaroche, Cieza de León como Ayar Ocho y Bernabé Cobo como Ayar Uche. Según Cerrón, los cronistas escriben la voz con diferentes “texturas formales” que no encajan en el quechua ni el aimara.

El vocabulario de Diego Gonçález Holguín registra uchu con significado ají y en aimara no existe tal denominación. La casi nula información estimula la sospecha de R. Cerrón de estar ante un nombre extraño al idioma quechua y al aimara. La pesquisa del nombre lo lleva a postular el termino uro uzh o niño o menor que reconstruido como uc(a), piensa el lingüista que, sería un préstamo del puquina al quechua. De aceptarse la hipótesis Ayar Uchu significaría Ayar el Menor. El problema es que el sentido atribuido al nombre no tiene una explicación u origen histórico o mítico.

3. Fundamento mítico que avala el significado de Ayar Uchu

Una posible razón que engrana con la tesis de Cerrón, es la crónica de Bernabé Cobo (citado en Busto, J.A. 1981: 290-291), narra que, los incas fabricaron tres esculturas debido a que una vez vieron en el cielo tres soles. Narración que no es fabulosa. En la dinastía del Alto Cusco, los incas veneraban al Sol bajo la forma de una trinidad solar: la principal figura del Sol tuvo por nombre Apu Inti o Señor Sol, la otra Churi Inti o Sol Hijo, por último, Inti Huauque o Hermano Sol.

Sáenz, O. (2021b) revela que las imágenes solares anteriores corresponden con el sol al amanecer (Sol Hijo), sol en lo alto (Señor Sol) y sol del ocaso (Hermano Sol). También observa que, en los inicios del gobierno de la dinastía del Bajo Cusco veneraban tres soles, pero nombrados así: Viracocha (Padre), Ymaymana (Hijo) y Tokapu (Hijo) que son: sol al amanecer (Ymaymana), sol en lo alto (Viracocha) y sol del ocaso (Tokapu). Además, los incas conocían el principio de periodicidad por el cual todo ser animado o inanimado tiende a nacer, crecer, decaer y morir.

Aplicando el conocimiento anterior a la tesis de Rodolfo Cerrón: Ayar Uchu (Ayar el Menor) es el sol naciente (por eso, es el menor) es equivalente del sol al amanecer; Ayar Auca (Ayar el Mayor) es el decaimiento del sol, es semejante del sol en el ocaso; queda Manco Cápac que cumple función análoga a la de Viracocha (el Padre) que es un sol crecido o sol en lo alto.

4. Conclusión

En base a los argumentos expuestos, concluimos que el nombre de Ayar el Menor (Ayar Uchu) es símil terrenal del sol al amanecer deriva su nombre por ser el sol naciente. Equivale en la historia religiosa incaica al Sol Hijo (Ayar Uchu) y tiene un Hermano Sol, que es Ayar Auca (ver significado aquí). En la historia mítica los tres soles equivalen a Viracocha y sus dos hijos, entre los tres forman la misma trinidad solar.
